Kreistag

The county council is elected as the main organ of the district for five years by the citizens. He decides on general matters of the district, sets local-political aims and visions and elects the county commissioner. In the area in which the district administration fulfills responsibilities of the “lower state administrative authority” the county council has no influence. For these voluntary activities the members of the county council are receiving a financial compensation.

The amount of the compensation is regulated in the statue for compensation for voluntary activities. The county council passes statues and regulations (district laws), which present a decisive basis for the activities of the district.
